Today, Sunday (28.06.2026), a registered assembly under the motto "Against right-wing agitation in Völklingen" took place starting at 11:30 a.m. Additionally, the AfD held its state party conference in the Wehrden district at the local cultural hall. At its peak, about 80 people participated in the assembly. To ensure a smooth process, the Saarland police were deployed with a level of personnel appropriate for the occasion.
Around 11:30 a.m., a procession of approximately 50 participants set off from Völklingen train station, moving along Rathausstraße to Schaffhauser Straße. From 11:50 a.m., a closing rally of the assembly took place on Schaffhauser Straße—directly near the Kulturhalle. Temporary road closures were necessary during the procession and the rally. These were lifted around 1:00 p.m. after the assembly had ended. The police described the event as proceeding without disturbances and gave an entirely positive assessment.
The state party conference of the AfD also proceeded without incidents from a police perspective.
The police operations were concluded around 5:00 PM.
