Rendezvous with honeybees at the cultural landscape center Haus Lochfeld
At the "Rendezvous with Honeybees" in the garden area of Haus Lochfeld on Sunday, July 5th, from 3 p.m., visitors can experience close-up insights into beehives. The "Rendezvous" takes place directly in the garden area near the bees and is ideal for the whole family. The participation fee is six euros per person, and three euros for children up to 14 years old. There is also the possibility to purchase freshly extracted honey on-site.
The honeybee still presents scientists with many puzzles for which they have found no solution so far. Beekeepers can tell wondrous things about their "craft." There are many myths and stories about honeybees, their colony, and life deep inside the darkness of the beehive, as the animal "private life" of honeybees usually remains hidden from us humans. Normally, one does not know exactly what they are doing, at least not when they are at home. As soon as beekeeper Hans-Werner Krick opens the beehive, you get to know the workers, drones, and queen face to face, witness pollen and nectar collectors at work, and, with some luck, can even watch the queen laying eggs. Along the way, Hans-Werner Krick tells and shows many exciting details from the world of honeybees.
The "Rendezvous with Honeybees" is also well suited for children and teenagers. Registration is required by July 2nd at the latest, with the Saarpfalz district by phone on weekdays during business hours at (06841) 104 - 7228 or by email at haus-lochfeld@saarpfalz-kreis.de. Due to limited parking space at the venue, attendees are asked to use parking facilities nearby or form carpools.
