Press Release/26.06.24 Wadern City Library Launches Summer Reading Challenge Ready, set, read! During the Summer Reading Challenge, children who borrow and read books from the Wadern City Library can win great prizes. All children aged six to twelve can choose from over 150 new titles and the library collection to enjoy exciting, funny, or adventurous reading moments. Everything is allowed, from thick books to comics. Until August 14th, everyone who is interested can participate for free and will be rewarded for their enthusiasm for reading! After reading and reviewing three books, participants receive a certificate and the chance to win beautiful and fantastic prizes in a raffle. There is a consolation prize for all participants. The Summer Reading Challenge is supported by the Ministry of Education and Culture. Additional support is provided by some publishers as well as local businesses and clubs with vouchers and donations in kind. "The start on the first day was tremendous," said Christel Franz, head of the city library. She and her colleague Judith Burkholz recently visited primary and secondary schools in the city of Wadern to inform about the campaign. With great success: there were many new registrations from motivated young readers! Hopefully, this enthusiasm for reading will continue. Children of all ages are also invited to participate in the "Storytime in the City Park with Crafting Activities" (registration required).
