“Municipalities at their limit” – Protest action by the municipality of Quierschied At 11:45 a.m. on the past Monday, June 22, 2026, the municipality of Quierschied took part in the nationwide campaign “Municipalities at their limit.” With a demonstration at Triebener Square and a video campaign on social media, the municipality of Quierschied supports the protest. All of this aims to draw attention to a central issue of our time: the fact that municipal budgets are sinking ever deeper into the red and financial leeway is becoming increasingly tight. Municipalities are at their limit – or already beyond it. Nationwide, municipalities had to endure a financing deficit of more than 30 billion euros just last year. With the day of action “Municipalities at their limit” on June 22, 2026, districts, cities, and municipalities across the country are advocating for the federal government and also the states to finally take action and restore municipal financial stability.
