Strengthening our schools: 132 new teachers are starting their service
Reinforcement for schools in Saarland: On August 1st, 132 new teachers will begin their service at Saarland schools. In addition, 13 educational professionals will join the multiprofessional teams on site. Minister of Education Christine Streichert-Clivot ceremoniously handed over their appointment certificates today and welcomed them to the Saarland school service.
Education Minister Christine Streichert-Clivot:
"Those who choose the teaching profession choose a career that leaves its mark. Teachers shape life paths, open up perspectives, and equip young people with the necessary tools to find their place in our society. They share in successes, support through challenges, and can become important points of reference for children and adolescents. The fact that 132 people have chosen this path is good news for our schools and especially for our students. With their commitment, expertise, and personality, they will enrich our school communities and help ensure that young people receive the best possible opportunities for their future lives."
24 teachers are being hired at primary schools, 17 teachers at special schools. 38 teachers are starting their service at community schools or at the Schengen Lyceum, 34 teachers at grammar schools and the European School. At vocational schools, 19 teachers are being hired.
Among them are also the first eight lateral entrants who began their preparatory service on February 1, 2025. They will be deployed in special education as well as in the subjects of Visual Arts and Music. Four additional teachers will start their service at vocational schools and enter the Saarland school system through the lateral entry already established there.
“That we can now take on the first graduates of the lateral entry into the teaching profession shows that opening additional access routes to the teaching profession was a correct and important decision. They bring their professional qualifications as well as diverse experiences from other occupational fields with them. These different perspectives enrich school life and provide new impulses for our students,” said the minister.
Educational specialists are now an indispensable part of our schools. For the new school year, ten educational specialists will be employed at special needs schools and three at vocational schools. They complement the multiprofessional teams on site and make an important contribution to the individual promotion, guidance, and support of the students.
