Early on Saturday morning, the Federal Police checked a car coming from France as part of the temporarily reintroduced controls at the internal border in the area of the BAB 6 - Goldene Bremm. The driver of the vehicle, occupied by a total of four French nationals, attracted the attention of the officers due to his slurred speech. During the subsequent investigation, it was found that the 34-year-old was wanted by the French authorities with an international arrest warrant. He is accused of illegal drug trafficking and involvement in a criminal organization. Independently of this, further inspection revealed more issues. The Peugeot was reported stolen, and the license plates attached did not match the vehicle identification number, as they were also stolen. Consequently, the car had no valid insurance coverage. Furthermore, the driver did not possess a valid driver's license and was operating the vehicle under the influence of narcotics and alcohol. Therefore, the driver will have to answer for numerous additional offenses. After completing all police procedures, he was taken to Saarbrücken prison to secure his extradition to France. During the search of the car, €940 in small bills was found, which, according to consistent statements from the passengers, belonged to the front-seat passenger. During his search, officers also found a small amount of narcotics, and he was charged with the illegal importation of cannabis. Afterwards, the 21-year-old was allowed to leave the station. The same applied to a 32-year-old sitting in the back seat, as a small amount of narcotics was also found on him.
