On Saturday evening, June 20, 2026, employees of an outdoor pool in Brebach-Fechingen reported via emergency call that a large fight involving approximately 30 people was breaking out. When the first police forces from the Saarbrücken-Stadt and Saarbrücken-Burbach police stations arrived shortly after 6 p.m., the crowd involved had grown to around 100 people. Loud arguments and gestures were exchanged in French and Arabic, and the background of the dispute, which initially broke out between two young men on a sunbathing lawn, could not be determined until the end. Ultimately, all individuals involved responded calmly to the intervention by police and the pool’s security service, so the crowd soon dispersed into smaller groups. Additional units, who had been accompanying a sports event in Saarbrücken, positioned themselves at the entrance area to the pool.
No one was injured, and uninvolved bathers were not caught in the crossfire. The situation had eased by around 6:30 p.m., allowing swimming activities to continue unhindered in the well-attended outdoor pool.
