Saarbrücken (ots)
On Saturday evening, approximately 900 people in the Dudweilerstraße area of Saarbrücken celebrated the late victory of the German national team. Fans gathered at the intersection of Dudweilerstraße and Bahnhofstraße, waving flags and celebrating exuberantly. Occasionally, pyrotechnic devices were ignited by unknown individuals. No participants present were injured as a result of the use of pyrotechnics. Some individuals climbed onto a parked transporter and an information board. However, after being addressed by the police, they immediately climbed down. Parallel to the celebrations, a car procession with around 250 participating vehicles drove through the city center of the state capital. For this purpose, the police closed off the Dudweilerstraße and Betzenstraße areas, as well as the tunnel at the main station, well in advance. Due to the high volume of vehicles, there were significant disruptions to traffic flow throughout the city center for about 1.5 hours. The celebrations were mostly peaceful. Only two regulatory offenses related to traffic violations had to be sanctioned.
