Saarbrücken, June 18, 2026 – The Special Olympics National Games Saarland 2026 in the heart of Europe are in full swing. A good moment to thank partners, sponsors, and the media alliance for their great commitment.
The president of Special Olympics Germany (SOD), Christiane Krajewski, called these partnerships "infinitely valuable" on Wednesday at a reception in the Hofhaus in Saarbrücken. She thanked for the financial and in-kind contributions and also for the support from employees who are deployed as corporate volunteers at the games. "These volunteers gain a lot of experience, then bring it back into the companies and can thus positively influence corporate culture," said Christiane Krajewski.
She pointed out that SOD was established to enable people with intellectual disabilities to participate in sports. Equally important is providing them with better educational opportunities and helping them find employment. "I am very grateful to you for supporting us in this," she said to the guests at the reception www.saarland2026.de.
Dennis Mellentin, SOD Vice President and athlete representative, joined in: "All athletes are very grateful for your support."
The Minister of Sports of Saarland, Reinhold Jost, stated that people with an "intellectual disability are special. They are especially valuable." He thanked all those present for supporting this with their commitment.
