Press Release – For Immediate Publication „Forest, Pond and Mountain Sheep“: Guided Adventure Hike with Culinary Finale in the Saarschleifenland The tour around Wadern leads to the Dösterhof Estate – Registration now open In view of the warm summer temperatures, a shady forest hike offers the ideal opportunity for active relaxation in nature. When a culinary finale awaits at the end of the route, motivation is doubled. The tourism office therefore invites you to a varied and challenging hike entitled „Forest, Pond and Mountain Sheep“ next Saturday, June 20, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. The route takes participants past the historic „Dreikreisestein“ and idyllic forest ponds. After a gentle initial climb of about 90 meters in elevation, the first stage of 5.9 kilometers rewards the hiking group with wide views over the region. On the subsequent descent, the historic rails of a railway line built in 1903 can be discovered before climbing about 50 meters up to the impressive Badenbacher rock massif. After circling it, there is a scenic section directly along the shore of the Prims river before a narrow path winds gently, and at one point somewhat steeply, uphill. The destination of the hike is the renowned Dösterhof Estate. During an exclusive farm tour, participants gain insights into the agricultural operation and can experience rare livestock breeds such as the Brown Mountain Sheep up close. To crown the tour, a tasting of farm-produced and regional products from the premium brand „Ebbes von Hei“ awaits the hiking group. The group will be led by Martin Bambach on this day. He is a hiking guide certified by the German Hiking Association (DWV) and also holds the additional qualification as a senior hiking guide, thus ensuring expert and safe guidance through the region. As the number of participants is limited, prior registration is mandatory. This can be done online via the event portal at www.wadern-saarschleifenland.de or by phone at 06871 / 5070. The participation fee is only 5 euros per person and already includes the farm tour and the subsequent tasting.
