Children's House St. Ingbert celebrates 20th anniversary on June 27 - a place for encounters, education, and community for two decades
The St. Ingbert Children's House is celebrating its 20th anniversary. On this occasion, the Caritas Center Saarpfalz, CJD Homburg, and the city of St. Ingbert are jointly inviting everyone to a big children's festival on Saturday, June 27, 2026. From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., families can look forward to a varied program with dance, music, magic, and numerous interactive activities.
The opening is at 11 a.m. with a welcome to the guests. Afterwards, the dance groups of CVJM St. Ingbert provide a lively start to the celebration day. From 12 p.m., magician Jonny P Magic will captivate and enchant both young and old visitors alike with his show.
Between 11:30 AM and 3:00 PM, children can demonstrate their skills at a games Olympiad. At the same time, the German Child Protection Association St. Ingbert invites you to a children's flea market in the schoolyard of the Wiesentalschule. From 1:30 PM, the music school offers the opportunity to discover the fascinating world of trash drumming and try it out yourself. The musical finale will be provided at 2:00 PM by the junior orchestra of the Bergkapelle St. Ingbert.
The organizers thank the District Youth Welfare Office of the Saarpfalz district, the city of St. Ingbert, as well as the Ministry of Education and Culture. Without their support and promotion, the implementation of the diverse offerings in the children's center would not be possible.
A success story for 20 years
The history of the children's center began with an idea from the Children's Commission of the city of St. Ingbert. Between 2002 and 2006, an open house for children and youth was planned and realized in a central downtown location. What started back then as an innovative model project has now developed into a permanent and indispensable institution of child and youth work in St. Ingbert.
To this day, the children's center is characterized by its special concept: different providers work successfully together under one roof. These include the voluntary all-day school of the Wiesental School under the sponsorship of CJD Homburg, the open child and youth work of the Caritas Center Saarpfalz, as well as the holiday programs of the Children's and Youth Office of the City of St. Ingbert. Through this close cooperation, educational, care, and leisure activities both inside and outside of school are meaningfully linked together.
The "Children's House" of Caritas
The "Kinderhaus" of the Caritas Center Saarpfalz, as many children lovingly call their open meeting place, is today an important contact point for children and adolescents aged six to 16. The open meeting takes place during the school term from Monday to Thursday from 2 pm to 6 pm, and on Fridays from 2 pm to 5 pm.
Especially for children and young people from the city center, the children's house offers a safe space where they can experience community, receive support, and spend their free time meaningfully. The offerings include play and creative activities, cooking together, counseling and support, as well as reliable contact persons for the concerns of the young visitors.
A special highlight for older children and teenagers is the monthly "Dönerstag." Here, their ideas, interests, and wishes take center stage.
In addition, a variety of programs are offered by Caritas and the Children and Youth Office during the school holidays, providing families with reliable care.
Voluntary full-day school as an important component
Another important component of the house is the voluntary all-day school of the Wiesentalschule. It helps families better balance work and family life. Parents can have their children looked after until 3 p.m. or until 5 p.m. after class ends.
In addition to a shared lunch and homework support, the team at CJD Homburg offers the children a varied educational program with a wide range of learning, play, and leisure activities.
After 20 years, the Children's House St. Ingbert still stands for lived collaboration, equal opportunities, and strong togetherness. The anniversary celebration offers the opportunity to look back on a successful history and to celebrate together with children, families, partners, and supporters.
