The big day of the torch relay in the Saarpfalz district as part of the Special Olympics National Games Saarland on Saturday, June 13, is just around the corner. With its third stop at around 5 p.m. as part of the LVM Saarland Trofeo in Blickweiler, the torch relay day culminates in a joint closing ceremony of the torchbearers, support teams, and the Trofeo community at the village square in Blickweiler.
District Administrator Frank John: "With this event, we once again emphasize that the torch relay stands in a special way for community, cohesion, and the unifying power of sports. Participating will also be something special for me. I hope for numerous visitors along the route who will be inspired, cheer on the runners as well as the cyclist, and then join the social gathering around the award ceremony of the Trofeo on the village square in Blickweiler."
Blieskastel's mayor Bernd Hertzler and the local head of Blickweiler, Walter Boßlet, both of whom will be involved in the torch handover, are also looking forward to the upcoming event. And Interior Minister Reinhold Jost has also announced his attendance.
The Olympic flame, the "Flame of Hope," burns in a miner's lamp, which is carried in Blickweiler by the inclusive tandem of Kaja Hurth and Michael Keck.
Kaja Hurth is an 18-year-old young woman who captivates with her open, friendly, and joyful nature. The torch relay starts at 5 p.m. in Blickweiler and leads about 700 meters to the finish arch of the Trofeo circuit race in the village center.
