The Fasebotze from Ottweiler were active in many ways again over the weekend from June 5 to 7, 2026, once again demonstrating their commitment beyond the carnival season.
On Friday, the carnival heritage of Ottweiler met around 6:30 PM at Uncle Tom's cabin to then attend the opening of the Ottweiler Old Town Festival together. The Fanfarenzug 1961 Ottweiler opened the festival with a solemn procession and several musical pieces, before Mayor Holger Schäfer gave the official opening speech and tapped the keg. Afterwards, there was a friendly exchange with the Daalers from Neunkirchen. Despite the short stay, the visit was considered very successful.
A downside was the illness-related absence of the mother of the head of the organization, Sabrina, who is currently in the hospital. On behalf of Fasebotze, the best wishes for a speedy recovery are extended at this point.
On Saturday, the group’s journey led to Merzig for the Karlsbergbraunacht. The event impressed with its atmospheric ambiance, good music, and a balanced selection of food and drinks. The commitment of the KG Humor Merzig was particularly highlighted, as they made a strong statement for solidarity within the club community with their stands at the festival grounds. Events of this kind outside the traditional carnival season play an important role because they contribute to financing the carnival activities. Additionally, KG Humor Merzig regularly represents the region at tournaments in Saarland as well as at the national level.
