When the Saarknappenchor and the Bergkapelle Saar perform together on stage, lived tradition meets modern concert culture. The benefit concert on June 14, 2026, at 3 PM in the Primstal Multipurpose Hall (Kannenberg 3) in the municipality of Nonnweiler brings together two of the most important musical ambassadors of Saarland, both deeply rooted in the history of coal mining and continuously evolving.
For 75 years, the Saarknappenchor has been inspiring its audience far beyond the regional borders. With around 35 singers and up to 20 concerts annually, the ensemble has evolved from a classical miners' choir into a versatile concert choir. Today, its repertoire includes secular and sacred male choir literature from all eras. Under the direction of conductor Johannes Weiler, who has shaped the ensemble since 2022, musical quality, expressive power, and stylistic openness are at the forefront. International concert tours testify to the great recognition the choir enjoys outside of Germany as well.
