In summer, travel to France by train with the Young People’s Ticket – Use of local transport in Grand Est still possible without surcharge
For the third time, young people under the age of 28 can use regional trains and buses of fluo throughout the entire Région Grand Est and even TER trains to Paris without extra charge with the Saarland Young People’s Ticket in July and August. The same applies to young subscribers of a Germany ticket residing in Saarland, Rhineland-Palatinate, or Baden-Württemberg. In return, young people from the Région Grand Est are granted free use of regional trains in Baden-Württemberg, Rhineland-Palatinate, and Saarland with the "Pass Jeune".
“Nothing stands in the way of an environmentally friendly introduction to the neighboring regions or remarkable French cities such as Strasbourg, Metz, Nancy, or Paris thanks to this initiative. We are pleased to launch this offer again this year, which has arisen from cross-border cooperation,” says Minister Petra Berg. “To give young people the opportunity to explore our friendly neighboring countries, we intend to establish this offer permanently.”
The ticket is not valid on long-distance services (IC, EC, ICE, TGV, FLIXBUS, FLIXTRAIN, etc.). Reservations are mandatory for TER trains to Paris (Paris Gare de l’Est – Strasbourg as well as Paris Gare de l’Est – Mulhouse). In addition to a valid ticket, passengers should carry an identity card or passport to prove their residence in case of checks.
The Young People’s Ticket is a significantly discounted Germany ticket for students, trainees, and volunteers residing in Saarland.
The subscription price is 44.40 euros per month, and the ticket is valid nationwide for local public transport (ÖPNV).
