Since February, Rabea Hoffmann has been working as a project manager for the city of Völklingen within the framework of the funding project "Vibrant Downtown – Creative Formats for a Strong City". The aim is to create new impulses for the city center, improve the quality of stay, and strengthen the networking of trade, culture, and other downtown stakeholders.
“A vibrant city center thrives on the commitment of many actors. With Ms. Hoffmann, we gain a key contact person who brings in new ideas, sensibly networks existing structures, and actively supports the development of our city center,” emphasizes Mayor Stephan Tautz.
The project is supported by the program "Retail in Saarland – Future Concept 2030" of the Saarland Ministry for Economic Affairs, Innovation, Digitalization, and Energy. In January, Economic Minister Jürgen Barke symbolically handed over the funding approval. The aim of the program is to strengthen retail in the city centers of Saarland and to sustainably revitalize downtown areas.
The city office is located in the premises of a former retail space on Rathausstraße 28. There, Rabea Hoffmann offers regular consultation hours – on Tuesdays from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and on Thursdays from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Citizens, business owners, associations, and other interested parties are warmly invited to come by with their suggestions, questions, ideas, or project proposals. The office is intended to serve as a place for meeting, exchange, and networking.
The project manager's responsibilities include, in addition to networking and managing the city office, particularly the development and implementation of new event formats. The aim is to involve as many stakeholders as possible. The goal is to connect economic, cultural, and social aspects and to actively involve people in shaping their downtown area.
Already during the summer holidays, the first major event, "City Bingo," will launch. Over a period of two weeks, the format connects commerce, culture, and city life, offering participants the chance to win attractive prizes. Further information will be published shortly.
Such events are intended to strengthen the Völklingen city center as a space for experiences. Not only visitors benefit from this, but also local retailers and other city center stakeholders.
Anyone who wants to get to know the new premises or speak with Rabea Hoffmann can attend the consultation hours or arrange an individual appointment. In addition, an official opening event for the City Office is planned for the end of June. The exact date will be announced in due time.
