Attached, I am sending you a press release.
St. Ingbert newspaper archive now directly accessible via the INGO app
The city history of St. Ingbert goes mobile: the digital newspaper archive is now available directly on smartphones via the INGO app – residents can access it anytime and conveniently. Everything that previously had to be researched on the computer is now possible with just a few clicks on the go – this is a major advancement for the accessibility of the city's historical heritage. The archive uses cutting-edge technology, as thanks to an advanced OCR text recognition, all documents are fully searchable. Users can specifically search for names, places, or historical events without having to painstakingly browse through pages manually. The archive is continuously growing, as new volumes are regularly digitized and added to the system. The archive consistently adheres to the high DFG standard, which ensures excellent image quality and long-term digital preservation.
A special service for the public is the ability to download all historical newspaper pages free of charge – ideal for genealogy, academic research, or personal interest in the city's history.
„By integrating the newspaper archive into the INGO app, city history becomes more accessible than ever before. Historical information and events can now be researched anytime and from anywhere. With this, we create low-threshold access to our cultural heritage and make history tangible for all citizens,“ explains Dr. Heidemarie Ertle, Head of the City Archive of St. Ingbert.
