Attached is a press release from the city of St. Ingbert with a request for publication.
After five years, Woolworth is back in its "old place"
In 2021, renovation work began in the former Woolworth building on Kaiserstraße, and the discount store moved its assortment into the vacant rooms of the former dm branch just a few meters away.
After five years, Woolworth returned to its former location, where the store now shines with a new radiance. On the very first day of reopening, local head Irene Kaiser, Nico Ganster, and Roland Degen from HGSI visited the branch and welcomed the employees in the new sales area.
“With 1,100 sqm of retail space, the discount store is certainly much smaller than before, but the assortment has remained largely the same,” explained district manager Felix Decker on the day of the reopening. “We are all very happy with our new store today; in the truest sense of the word, a high-quality revitalization has taken place here.” He was especially pleased by the fact that 80% of the approximately 15 Woolworth employees have remained loyal and are still part of the team. “Here, my sincere thanks go to the employees here in St. Ingbert; they have all performed a true feat of strength in recent days with the closure on the one hand and the reopening on the other.”
“This commitment speaks for a good working atmosphere,” said Nico Ganster, chairman of HGSI, who himself runs a hairdressing business in St. Ingbert. “Our city centers have undergone a major transformation; most discount stores are relocating to the outskirts on the city’s edge. That makes me all the more pleased that you have stayed in the city center and enriched the selection with your range of goods. My compliment: a very nice, friendly, and bright branch has emerged here. I wish you every success and all the best.” These words were fully supported by local mayor Irene Kaiser: “I warmly congratulate you on behalf of the city of St. Ingbert on this modern and attractive branch. Woolworth has been in St. Ingbert for almost 50 years. This is a strong sign and at the same time a testament of trust for our city. For the future, I wish only the best and, besides loyal customers, many new ones.”
In conclusion, Felix Decker warmly thanked everyone for their visit and good wishes. He was also happy to return a compliment: "As a district manager, I travel a lot around the region, and I can assure you that St. Ingbert and St. Wendel are among the most livable cities in Saarland for me. And I say this with full conviction."
For your information:
Since 2022, Woolworth has completely done without printed advertising brochures. The decisive factors for this step are the saving of resources and costs as well as environmental protection. Instead, Woolworth relies solely on digital offer communication. The weekly deals are distributed via the Woolworth website as well as through brochure apps like kaufDA and Marktguru.
