Delegation from St. Ingbert visits the Homeland and Blossom Festival in Rhodt unter Rietburg
A delegation consisting of members of the city council, local councils, and the St. Ingbert city administration traveled to Rhodt unter Rietburg on the Friday before Pentecost for the opening of the Homeland and Blossom Festival. In excellent weather, the focus was particularly on personal and cultural exchange with the hosts and the maintenance of existing friendly relations.
Local mayor Uwe Winter welcomed the guests from St. Ingbert. Mayor Nadine Backes led the delegation. Also present were district chairwoman Irene Kaiser, deputy district chairman Fabian Roschy (both from St-Ingbert-Mitte), as well as district chairman Stefan Paulus from Rentrisch.
There has been a close connection between the city of St. Ingbert and the local community of Rhodt unter Rietburg for many years through a wine sponsorship. Regular reciprocal visits help to keep this friendship alive and further strengthen the exchange between culture, local politics, administration, and citizens.
In her greeting, Mayor Nadine Backes emphasized the importance of such encounters: “Personal exchange and regular visits are an important part of our friendly connection. They promote cooperation across city and state borders and strengthen the established relationships between the two places.” The Mayor of St. Ingbert was particularly pleased that many people from St. Ingbert had also traveled to the opening. As a gift, Nadine Backes brought genuine St. Ingbert beer from Herz&Heimat to the wine region.
The traditional Homeland and Blossom Festival will take place this year from Friday, May 22 to Monday, May 25, 2026, along the historic Theresienstraße in Rhodt unter Rietburg. The event is one of the best-known Pentecost festivals on the Southern Wine Route and combines wine, Palatinate specialties, music, handicrafts, and lived village tradition.
On Sunday, the city administration is leading another citizen travel group to Rhodt to attend the festival and continue to foster the partnership and cultural relations.
