Good day,
attached is a press release from the city of St. Ingbert with a request for publication.
Daycare children visit "their" cornerstone in the cotton mill
A very special visit awaited the children of the 20 St. Ingbert daycare centers at the Baumwollspinnerei: All daycare children were invited to view the newly installed cornerstone of the future town hall. The occasion was extraordinary – the time capsule embedded in the 2025 cornerstone contains the fingerprints of the children.
Mayor Dr. Ulli Meyer personally welcomed the young guests and explained to them the special significance of the time capsule: "With your fingerprints, you are part of the cornerstone in the cotton spinning mill. Keep in mind that your fingerprints are in the time capsule that was built in here and are an integral part of our new town hall."
For this reason, the children were allowed to directly visit the already installed foundation stone on site, in order to familiarize them from the very beginning with their future town hall and museum.
As a reminder of this special day, Lord Mayor Dr. Ulli Meyer and Mayor Nadine Backes presented each child with a small reflector pendant for their school bag or backpack, as well as a sausage voucher for the big fire brigade festival, which traditionally takes place on Mother's Day.
Afterwards, Margret Welsch, project manager of the cotton mill, took the young visitors on a journey through the history of this traditional industrial building. She spoke about the origins of the cotton mill, which was built in St. Ingbert as early as 1885 and is currently being converted into a modern town hall with an integrated museum.
About 80 children as well as their parents and siblings accepted the mayor's invitation. Margret Welsch guided the interested visitors in four groups through the entrance area of the construction site building and showed the children the foundation stone. Fire protection measures were also addressed as an appropriate transition to the subsequent visit of some guests to the open house at the fire department.
