is a press release from the city of St. Ingbert with a request for publication.
700 participants at the largest MTB season opening in Saarland
St. Ingbert is establishing itself as the mountain biking hotspot of Saarland – and PurBike as its sporty flagship. In bright sunshine, the city welcomed around 700 participants to the fourth PurBike cycling event at the renowned Pur mountain biking permanent route. A new participant record that underscores the growing appeal of the event far beyond the region.
For the first time, Kettler Alu-Rad and Bulls acted together as main partners of the event. Kettler Alu-Rad also provided the venue: At the location of the most modern e-bike production in Europe, the bikers found their starting point for an exciting day on the trails around St. Ingbert. "PurBike is a great success all around. The new start and finish location was perfect. We thank Kettler Alu-Rad and Bulls for their support and hospitality and also say thanks to the other supporters Kreissparkasse Saarpfalz, Bitburger 0.0% alcohol-free as well as the Biosphere-Stadtwerke St. Ingbert”, said Iris Stodden from the tourism department of the city administration.
Two routes – one experience for everyone
The MTB-Permanent Pur also offered two different route profiles in 2026: The Pur.Bike SMART with 17 kilometers and around 250 meters of elevation gain was aimed at families and beginners, while the Pur.Bike EXPERT with 35 kilometers and 600 meters of elevation gain challenged more ambitious riders and experienced MTB pros. There was a suitable challenge for everyone – and the participants' opinions were unanimous: What a tour on the Pur!
The MTB permanent route itself is no longer a well-kept secret: over nearly 120 kilometers in total length and two different course options, the Pur offers nature and athletic challenge year-round – amidst beautiful forests and elevations around St. Ingbert, which are repeatedly rewarded with fantastic views.
After the tours, the day ended with live music on the grounds of Kettler Alu-Rad. The crowning finale was the raffle of an original Kettler aluminum bike – another
highlight of the event.
PurBike
has become an indispensable part of the event calendar of the city of St. Ingbert. “The response from the participants shows that we have struck a chord with PurBike. And that is exactly why we will celebrate Saarland's biggest season opener again next year on Mother's Day, May 9th, 2027,” Saarlands
größten
Saisonstart“,
Iris Stodden is already looking ahead.
