Photo contest for the 25th anniversary of the district partnership between Saarlouis and Bochnia/Poland
A quarter century of lived German-Polish friendship: For 25 years, the districts of Saarlouis and Bochnia have been united by a close partnership that goes far beyond an official agreement. What began in 2001 has developed into a lively exchange between people, cultures, and generations.
For the anniversary year 2026, the district of Saarlouis is offering a special photo contest. Under the motto "25 Years Saarlouis & Bochnia," images are sought that showcase the German-Polish friendship in all its facets.
Whether personal encounters, joint activities, cultural highlights, trips, music, symbols of connection, or creative snapshots: photos are wanted that show how diverse the partnership between the two regions is lived.
The participants are invited to creatively express their motives. Emotional stories, artistic perspectives, and symbolic representations of German-Polish friendship are especially welcome – for example with the colors white-red and black-red-gold, flags, collages, or other creative ideas.
Participation takes place via the district's social media channels or alternatively via the homepage on the competition page www.rendezvous-saarlouis.de/bochnia-kreativ/. The submission deadline is Tuesday, June 9, 2026.
A jury will select the most beautiful and creative submissions. The main prize is a multi-day delegation trip to Bochnia in August 2026. In addition, selected entries will be showcased in an exhibition as well as in an online gallery.
With the competition, the district of Saarlouis aims to highlight the special connection between Saarlouis and Bochnia while encouraging people to share their personal memories and impressions of this long-standing friendship.
