Good day,
Attached are press releases from the city of St. Ingbert with a request for publication.
Excursion to the Renaturation Project in the Spieser Mühlental
On Thursday, June 18th, between 5 and 7 p.m., the Biosphere VHS St. Ingbert and the BUND regional group Bliesgau invite you to an excursion to the renaturation project in the Spieser Mühlental, led by Michael Boes, site manager of the Landschaftsagenturplus Saarland.
The municipality of Spiesen-Elversberg is implementing an important environmental project together with Landschaftsagenturplus: the renaturation of the Spieser Mühlenbach over a length of approximately 1.5 kilometers. In this event, initiated by the BUND regional group Bliesgau, participants will gain a comprehensive insight into the goals, measures, and background of the project.
The focus is on the ecological enhancement of the valley floodplain as well as the improvement of flood protection. In addition, it is explained how the measures contribute to the implementation of the European Water Framework Directive (WFD). Another focal point is the removal of migration barriers to improve the continuity of the watercourse for animals. Where necessary, bioengineering methods are used to stabilize the riverbed and the banks.
The project is funded through eco-points from Landschaftsagenturplus – a model that enables ecological enhancements while simultaneously alleviating the burden on municipalities.
The event offers exciting insights into the planning, implementation, and ecological significance of this renaturation project and demonstrates what modern watercourse development looks like in practice.
For nature conservation reasons, the number of participants is limited. Therefore, registration is absolutely necessary!
