PM_Haus Saargau invites to "Rendezvous in the Garden"
On Sunday, June 7, 2026, Haus Saargau offers a varied program from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. centered around garden, nature, and enjoyment. Admission as well as lectures and guided tours are free of charge. The event is part of the Europe-wide series "Rendezvous in the Garden – Days of Parks and Gardens," which takes place from June 5 to 7, 2026, in numerous countries across Europe.
For the fifth time, the Saarlouis district is participating with the fragrance and spice garden at Haus Saargau in the event series of the German Society for Garden Art and Landscape Culture (DGGL). This year's motto is "Seeing" and focuses on the conscious perception of nature, garden art, and landscape.
Visitors can expect a day full of impressions with guided tours, lectures, information and sales stands, as well as regional specialties. The focus is on consciously discovering colors, shapes, and structures in nature, as well as new perspectives on gardening, sustainability, and biodiversity. In addition, the event offers opportunities for interesting conversations with exhibitors, speakers, and organizers.
A special offer this year is aimed at children and families: Together with the team from the Saar-Hunsrück Nature Park, a family rally takes you on a discovery tour across the orchard meadow. At various stations, animals and plants can be explored, herbs discovered, and exciting questions about the orchard meadow answered. Participants learn playfully about the importance of orchard meadows for the climate, biodiversity, and nutrition.
The topic of bees and honey is once again in focus: Irmgard Forster-Seiwert and Uwe Seiwert from the Saarlouis district association of beekeepers provide information at the bee stand in the orchard meadow about the life of honeybees, their importance as pollinators, and about beekeeping work. If the flowering allows, honey will be extracted on site.
In addition, the current exhibition at the Kunstforum Saarlouis can also be visited on this day. The museum section of the historic Lorraine farmhouse is open and offers insights into the living culture of a Lorraine farmhouse from over 100 years ago. Furthermore, free guided tours of Haus Saargau are offered.
The Obst- und Gartenbauverein Gisingen takes care of culinary delights with coffee, cake, and savory dishes. The offerings are complemented by regional products and specialties from various direct marketers. The program on Sunday is further supplemented by lectures on different topics:
11 & 2 pm:
Fresh herbs in your own garden and their uses
Speaker: Gertie Schrecklinger, Master Gardener
12 & 3 pm:
In the Biotope of the Blue Flower – The Garden as a Rendezvous of Nature and Romance

1 pm & 4 pm:

Represented with information and sales booths are, among others, the district association of beekeepers Saarlouis, the Saar-Hunsrück Nature Park, the district association of gardening clubs Saarlouis, Viezstraße e.V. as well as other partners from the fields of gardening, environment, and regional development.
