Day of Spirituality in St. Arnual
Saarbrücken. In our seemingly ever-faster society, many people feel the desire for more calm and serenity. Meditation, contemplation, and mindfulness are methods that invite inner reflection and the focusing of body and mind. What few know: Some of these methods have a religious core.
For those interested in exploring various meditation paths, an ecumenical team led by spokesperson Pastor Volker Bier is offering a "Day of Spirituality" on Saturday, May 30th, at the St. Arnual Collegiate Church (St. Arnualer Markt) as well as the adjacent Albert Schweitzer House. The goal of the study day is to help participants find their own path to spirituality.
In workshops lasting one and a half hours each, various approaches to meditation are introduced and practiced, such as the prayer of the heart, Zen, sitting in silence, spirituality and zest for life, Taijiquan and Qigong, as well as mindfulness. Trained instructors with many years of practical experience in the respective disciplines provide supportive guidance.
The study day begins with a general introduction to the exercise offerings at 9 a.m., followed by workshop sessions at 9:30 a.m., 1 p.m., and 4 p.m. Up to three different workshops can be attended throughout the day. The day concludes with a joint Taizé prayer at 6 p.m. in the collegiate church.
Pre-registration for the "Day of Spirituality" is not required. Those who only wish to attend individual workshops should be on site ten minutes before the start of the respective time slot. There are no costs, and the necessary exercise materials will be provided. Lunch is self-catered, and cake donations for the shared afternoon coffee are welcome.
