PM_Dr. Manuel Hawner is the new commissioner of the ABC unit of the volunteer fire departments in the district of Saarlouis
Personnel change in the disaster control department of the Saarlouis district: In the large conference room of the Saarlouis district office, District Administrator Patrik Lauer recently appointed Dr. Manuel Hawner as the successor to Jörg Beyer as the representative of the ABC unit of the volunteer fire departments. In addition to district fire inspector Bernd Paul, several comrades and family members of the two main individuals of the evening also attended the ceremony for the handover of the baton.
With very personal words of thanks, District Administrator Patrik Lauer and District Fire Inspector Bernd Paul bid farewell to the departing Jörg Beyer, who had "significantly shaped the development of the hazardous materials and CBRN unit in the Saarlouis district for many years." With Dr. Manuel Hawner, a doctoral chemist, "a dedicated, excellently trained, and at the same time practically experienced comrade is now taking on this task," said Lauer.
The ABC unit of the volunteer fire departments in the Saarlouis district is a disaster control unit. The acronym "ABC" stands for atomic radiation, biological, and chemical hazards. Originally established during the Cold War era, its area of responsibility today lies in hazard prevention in the industrial and economic sector.
The unit is composed of members from the volunteer fire departments of Saarlouis and Dillingen. Additionally, the respective local fire department is called upon to carry out urgent initial measures.
