Good day,
Attached is a press release from the city of St. Ingbert with a request for publication.
Berlin author Marie Hüttner visits the city library
At the end of her reading tour, the Berlin author Marie Hüttner appeared at the St. Ingbert City Library, where she presented her successful novel "Rocky Winterfeld - Pretty Off Track" to three classes from the Albertus Magnus Secondary School. The boys and girls of classes 5b and c as well as 6d attended with their teachers Ingo Recktenwald, Stefan Groß, and Steven Härtig
came to the library early in the morning to experience a very special form of literature class.
The children's book author Marie Hüttner comes from the Brandenburg province and now lives in Berlin. She works there as a therapist for children with reading and spelling difficulties and has been fully dedicated to writing since her breakthrough with the 2023 debut novel “Ist Oma noch zu retten?” – an exciting children's crime story. She visited Saarland schools for a week at the invitation of the Friedrich Boedecker Circle Saar to present her now third children's novel.
The story of their young protagonist Rocky Winterfeld captured the students' attention and curiosity from the very first moment. It tells the tale of a boy who knows exactly what he wants and has very specific likes and dislikes. The neurodivergent boy takes part in a science competition in Poland, leading to an adventurous road trip during which he makes new friends and grows in height and self-confidence.
As with all her performances, Marie Hüttner once again fully relied on the active participation of her listeners. Quiz questions and word cards, a stomp barometer, puzzling over the plot, and a mysterious story suitcase are simply part of her approach. For her, reading does not mean reading aloud, but interaction. The secondary school students were also allowed to create a new journey for Rocky and his friends through calling out. In the end, everyone was very satisfied, and there was still plenty of time to browse the shelves in the city library, which offers many exciting options not only for this age group.
