Good day,
Enclosed you will find a press release from the city of St. Ingbert with a request for publication.
Preschool children from the "Im Schmelzerwald" daycare center visited the town hall
The preschool children of the daycare center "Im Schmelzerwald" gained an exciting insight into the work of the city administration during their visit to the town hall of the city of St. Ingbert.
The children were welcomed by Mayor Dr. Ulli Meyer and Jörg Henschke from the city's Children and Youth Office. Although the kids were initially a bit shy, a varied and playful exchange quickly developed around the tasks of city administration and the topic of democracy.
The children particularly enjoyed a small election that was carried out together with the mayor. The choices were "The Elephant," "The Mouse," and "The Duck." Each child received their own ballot and was allowed to cast their vote into a ballot box. Afterwards, the votes were counted together. The Mouse won the election with six votes, narrowly ahead of the Elephant with five votes and the Duck with four votes. Additionally, there were two abstentions.
During the course of the visit, the children toured the Citizen Service Center. There, employee Heike Klehr explained in a child-friendly manner which tasks are carried out at the Citizen Service Center and for which concerns citizens can receive support. Among other things, it was demonstrated how license plates are canceled, passport photos are taken on site and uploaded to the computer, and which tasks related to IDs and documents are involved.
For the children, the visit was an eventful morning filled with many new impressions and exciting insights behind the scenes of the town hall.
