Helping can be this beautiful: Kunstforum Saarlouis donates to the aid fund "Citizens in Need"
Artists of the Kunstforum Saarlouis recently donated a total of 8,500 euros from the sale of their annual calendar to the "Bürger in Not" (Citizens in Need) relief fund of the Saarlouis district office as well as to other charitable organizations in the region.
For 31 years now, the artists of the Kunstforum Saarlouis have been committed to a good cause: with the sale of their annual calendar, they regularly support the "Citizens in Need" relief fund of the Saarlouis district as well as other charitable organizations in the region. In total, more than 243,500 euros have been raised for social purposes in this way. This year, the members of the Kunstforum continued this tradition and handed over a total sum of 8,500 euros. Of this amount, 4,500 euros went to the "Citizens in Need" relief fund. Further support was given to the food bank of the Caritas association with 1,750 euros as well as the therapeutic tutoring service of the Caritas association with 500 euros, represented by department head Sandra Weiß. The hospice association and the palliative care unit in Rehlingen-Siersburg were granted 1,750 euros; Theresia Thomas accepted the donation there.
The Kunstforum Saarlouis continues to be one of the most consistent and reliable supporters of the relief fund. Great thanks were expressed to the artists for this longstanding commitment. "The dedication of the Kunstforum Saarlouis is an impressive example of how art and social responsibility can go hand in hand. For over three decades, the participating artists have shown extraordinary continuity in their support for people in difficult life situations. The renewed donation is not only a valuable financial aid but also a strong sign of solidarity in our district. For this, I extend my heartfelt thanks to all involved," emphasized District Administrator Patrik Lauer during the donation handover.
The emergency fund "Citizens in Need" supports people who have fallen into financial distress through no fault of their own and for whom state assistance is insufficient or comes too late. In total, over 2,500 people in the Saarlouis district have already been helped. Each year, about 40 to 60 affected individuals turn to the fund, which enables quick and uncomplicated assistance – for example, in emergencies caused by accidents or illness, to secure livelihoods, or to manage special social difficulties.
The 2026 annual calendar features works by the following artists: Mario Andruet, Ingrid Brühl, Rita Burgwinkel, Mechthild Reuter-Thielen, Gerhard Meyer, Sabine Hauck, Maria Montnacher-Becker, Hanne Müller-Scherzinger, Heidi Rammo, Marlies Rath, Ulrike Rupp-Altmeyer, and Margarete Weiland-Asbach.
