Reading with Barbara Leciejewski at the St. Ingbert City Library
The St. Ingbert Literature Forum is hosting a reading with Barbara Leciejewski on Thursday, May 21, at 7:30 PM in the St. Ingbert City Library.
Barbara Leciejewski, born in Mühlbach in the Westrich region, wanted to become a writer as a child but initially aimed for a "real" profession and moved to Munich to study German studies and theater studies. After various jobs in the theater and a master's thesis on crime novels, she worked as a dubbing editor. However, her love for writing never left her; she is now a bestselling author and happy in her dream job.
On this evening, she presents her novel “It's So Beautiful by the Sea”: six weeks of spa treatment on the North Sea – a great vacation, her parents promise her. But the eight-year-old Susanne and the other children spend the worst time of their lives in the “Haus Morgentau.” Those who do not finish their plate, break the rules, or otherwise act out are harshly punished by the caregivers. No cry for help reaches the parents, as the children's letters are monitored. Yet again and again, Susanne and her friends outsmart the “aunts.” Then an incident occurs that haunts Susanne in her nightmares for decades – until she decides to finally confront the trauma of her childhood.
Admission is free.
