At this special event, a total of €2,700 was raised this year for the Merzig food bank. As a result, it can be concluded that the charity event on the Saturday before Christmas Eve was once again a complete success.
Fifty percent of all mulled wine sold between 12 and 3 p.m. goes to the Merzig Food Bank, which is operated by the Evangelical Church Congregation Merzig. In addition, visitors filled the donation boxes set up in the Christmas hut during the mulled wine sales campaign, including a larger donation from Streit medical KG. As a result, the Merzig Food Bank will be able to look forward to this significant amount.
In addition to the Saarland Minister for the Interior, Construction and Sports, Reinhold Jost, the Environment Minister Petra Berg, the Member of the State Parliament Martina Holzner, and the Commander of the State Command Saarland, Colonel Uwe Staab, SR Director General Martin Grasmück, Roman Bonnaire, Head of the Television Programming Department at Saarländischer Rundfunk, Mayor Christian Bies, the deputies of the district town Merzig, Maximilian Doll, Therese Schmitt and Arndt Oehm, local mayor Timo Hess and the team of the local editorial office of the Saarbrücker Zeitung with Christian Beckinger, Ruth Hien and Alina Leidisch also helped with the mulled wine sale.
Mayor Hoffeld thanks everyone who supported this charity-linked campaign and thus made an important contribution.
