As early as 12:14 a.m., the fire department of the district town of Neunkirchen was alerted for the first operation of the new year. During the night, garbage bins and burnt-out fireworks batteries had to be extinguished in several municipalities of the district.
Among the more serious operations were a car fire in Schiffweiler on New Year's Eve and a fire at a semi-detached house on New Year's morning.
