Extensive fireworks were already set off in advance, firecrackers ignited, and flare rounds were fired with blank pistols. Right on time for the New Year, approximately 500-800 people were present at the location, and traffic—including on the bridge—came to a complete standstill. A woman about 25 years old suffered a severe panic attack due to the ignition of the firecrackers and had to be treated by emergency medical personnel. She was subsequently taken to Winterberg Clinic for further examination. This also led to a larger police operation, as the access route for ambulances and emergency doctors had to be cleared. The massive fireworks display lasted until about 00:40, then the crowd dispersed on its own. The atmosphere toward rescue workers and police was consistently peaceful. No known crimes occurred here.
