Emotional moments and a special honor
The event was entirely dedicated to respect and gratitude. Especially moving were the personal words of the 101-year-old CEO Bauer, who remembered his fallen comrades and emphasized the bond between Saarlouis and the 95th Infantry Division.
A special highlight of the reception was CEO Bauer's entry into the Golden Book of the city of Saarlouis. With this, the city honored his commitment, courage, and life's achievements. With the words "I’ll sign it for history," he signed his page in the Golden Book.
"It is an honor for us to welcome CEO Bauer and the delegation. The memory of the events of the Second World War and the victims are part of our shared history and a reminder for the future," emphasized Mayor Marc Speicher, Mayor Carsten Quirin, and Councilor Gerald Purucker. The invited French Honorary Consul Myriam Bouchon also found moving words for the visit.
The delegation was deeply moved by the warm hospitality and the sustainable preservation of the culture of remembrance in Saarlouis.
