„For us, it is a matter close to our hearts to spend time together during the pre-Christmas season,” says educator Vanessa Berndt, pointing to the shining eyes of the children and seniors. Once the date for the visit was set, the children eagerly began crafting to bring a little joy to the residents. Five Christmas-themed posters featuring reindeer and snowmen were created, one for each living area of the senior center. With homemade cookies in hand, the young and older guests were welcomed by the smiling faces of the senior center's residents. After a brief introduction, everyone sang and made music together. In the cozy gathering with cookies and pleasant conversations, all participants enjoyed the morning’s end. The words of one resident moved the educational professionals: „One could not have given us a more beautiful gift.“ We thank all residents and staff of the AWO Senior Center Ludweiler for the warm welcome and the shared time we were allowed to spend. „It was a very successful morning, and we are interested in regular visits and exchanges with the senior center,“ says educator Louisa Dillhöfer.
