The afternoon care is currently provisionally housed in the basement rooms of the primary school. These facilities are not suitable as appropriate premises for the pupils in the long term, as they have insufficient lighting and ventilation. The current capacities have reached their limits and can no longer meet the current demand. The municipality of Riegelsberg is aware of its responsibility as the school authority and has decided to change this unacceptable situation through new construction.
Qualitative improvement through the new building
The extension creates the infrastructural and qualitative foundation for an improved educational and care offering in the afternoon. Construction began in April 2024. The completion of the project is planned for summer 2025, with construction costs estimated at 6,010,000 euros.
In addition, the municipality will invest approximately 1,100,000 euros in the fire protection of the existing building.
Funding and Programs for the Future
The realization of this important project is supported by various funding programs. A significant financing amounting to around 2,100,000 euros is provided by the Ministry of the Interior, Building and Sports within the framework of the Municipal Investment Promotion Act (KInvFG II). Additional financial contributions come from the Education and Care Investment Program, the School Construction Program Baustein, the School Promotion Program Infrastructure Expansion, as well as the Full-Day Care Program for Primary Schools and other possible earmarked allocations from the state.
An initial funding approval amounting to 400,000 euros was presented by Minister of Education Christine Streichert-Clivot during the ceremony.
Participants in the Construction: Competent Partners for Successful Implementation
The construction progress is supported by experienced partners. The architectural firm Roth Wohnig is responsible for the planning, while the engineering firm ITG Braun coordinates the building services. The shell construction was already completed ahead of schedule by the company Görgen, a testament to the efficient collaboration of all parties involved.
Thanks to the rapid delivery and installation of windows by Metallbau Dröschel, the building was quickly sealed, allowing the following trades to begin their work at the beginning of 2025. The roofing work is the responsibility of Krein GmbH. A temporary sealing has already been installed to ensure further construction progress.
"Together with everyone involved in the project, I am very proud of the progress made so far and already look forward to creating a modern and future-oriented educational and care facility for the children at the Hilschbach-Walpershofen school location upon completion of the new building in summer 2025," said Mayor Klaus Häusle.
