In good tradition, the naturalization ceremony took place for the tenth time and, as District Administrator Patrik Lauer emphasized, sent a message for integration and an open society. "We want to show: Germany is a multicultural state and new citizens are warmly welcome with us!", said the head of the Saarlouis district administration.
The naturalization ceremony annually provides a selection of people from other countries who wish to become German citizens the opportunity to receive their German citizenship in a festive setting.
Representatives from the Ministry of the Interior attended the event on behalf of the state. Additionally, as is tradition, among the approximately 100 guests at the district office were mayors and deputies from the municipalities and towns of the district, appearing to congratulate their new fellow citizens. The evening was musically framed and accompanied by the saxophone ensemble Maria Domenica Ferraro, whose performances dignifiedly emphasized the festivity of the occasion.
In total, 465 people have been naturalized by the end of October 2024. This is 59 more than in 2023.
