Marcus Hoffeld is once again supported in his charitable campaign by representatives from politics and society. In addition to the showmen Erika Sonnier-Puhlmann, Mike Puhlmann, and Stefan Spangenberger, who organize the Christmas market at the Merzig town hall with support from the district town of Merzig and provide the mulled wine including inventory, political office holders and social multipliers will also assist with the mulled wine sales again this year. From the state government’s side, the Minister for the Interior, Building and Sports, Reinhold Jost, has confirmed his attendance. The social cause is also supported by state parliament member Martina Holzner, the commander of the Saarland State Command, Colonel Uwe Staab, Mayor Christian Bies, and the deputies of the district town of Merzig, Maximilian Doll, Therese Schmitt, and Arndt Oehm. The Merzig district head Timo Hess has also signaled his willingness to participate. Finally, the director of Saarländischer Rundfunk, Martin Grasmück, the head of the television programming department at Saarländischer Rundfunk, Roman Bonnaire, and the team of the local editorial office of the Saarbrücker Zeitung, including Christian Beckinger, Ruth Hien, and Alina Leidisch, will contribute to the success of the event on this day.
"My sincere thanks go to everyone involved who is supporting this charity campaign once again," Hoffeld explains. The great willingness to participate underscores the good cause of the campaign.
“The Merzig food bank serves an important function by helping people in need from the city and the region every day. The event at the Christmas market is intended to help raise public awareness of this significant social institution,” says Mayor Marcus Hoffeld.
The Merzig food bank distributes food donations from retail stores to those in need with the help of volunteer helpers. The offer particularly benefits low-income households, large families, single parents with their children, retirees, long-term unemployed individuals, and social welfare recipients. Since 2013, the Evangelical Church Community Merzig has been the sponsor of the Merzig food bank.
"I am confident that this project will once again be a great success for a good cause this year," said the mayor, warmly inviting everyone on behalf of all participants to visit the Christmas market stall. "With us, you can enjoy a hot mulled wine and do something good at the same time," promotes Marcus Hoffeld.
The "Merzig Christmas Market at the Town Hall" has been taking place since November 28, 2024, in the inner courtyard of the town hall at Luckauer Platz as well as in the pedestrian zone in front of the town hall and will continue until December 24, 2024. Once again, visitors can expect culinary specialties, crafts, and a festive program on all market days.
