Small Christmas trees made of fabric, little gnome figures made of wool, reindeer made of corks, colorful ribbons, window decorations, and much more were created during this year's crafting event. In accordance with sustainability guidelines, only materials were used that minimize environmental impact in production, use, and disposal, and promote social responsibility.
The crafting activity involved the girls' group from the Esther Bejarano House in the district town of Saarlouis, La Tienda (a fair trade specialty shop), the Diakonie thrift store, the Catholic Family Education Center, Villa Vivendi, and the municipal Department of Family and Social Affairs.
Sabine Schmitt, Anette Plewka, and Josy Klauk from the Family and Social Affairs Department of the district town Saarlouis handed over the richly filled baskets with Christmas decorations to the heads of the AWO senior homes and the director of Victor’s Residence. “Our senior citizens look forward every year to the lovingly crafted pieces,” they agreed.
