“Whether a short film, social media campaign, exhibition about people with a migration background, or a democracy action for the upcoming federal election: No matter which project young people in the Saarlouis district choose, every idea against racism and discrimination counts,” says Ute Langenbahn.
The district chairwoman of IG BAU Saar-Trier sees "an enormous danger in right-wing extremists who are becoming increasingly brazen." It is important to "resolutely put a stop to extreme right-wing and racist activities everywhere." Especially in the workplace. The competition "Yellow Hand" is therefore "an ideal motivation for young people to get involved in the fight against all forms of racism."
“Whether in construction, building cleaning, or gardening and landscaping – whether in craft trades, industry, or services: Many people from various nations work together ideally throughout the Saarlouis district. There is no room for discrimination, hatred, or agitation,” said Ute Langenbahn.
The deadline for entries for the ‘Yellow Hand’ competition is January 15, 2025. The most creative idea will receive a prize of 1,000 euros. The second place will receive 700 euros and the third 500 euros. The ‘Yellow Hand’ has been awarded for 18 years by the association ‘Don’t Pick on My Buddy! – for Equal Treatment Against Racism’. The prizes will be awarded in March next year in Magdeburg.
