Whether at the quiz wheel or at one of the many information stands – as part of the event, the students of the KBBZ were able to gain new insights about HIV and AIDS in a playful way and close any knowledge gaps. This led to many aha moments: for example, that an infection with the HIV virus does not automatically trigger the onset of AIDS. Or that HIV-positive parents can give birth to children without passing on the virus, thanks to appropriate therapies.
World AIDS Day, observed annually on December 1st, reaffirms the rights of people living with HIV and calls for a community without prejudice and exclusion. It also aims to keep the memory of those who have died from the consequences of HIV and AIDS alive. This year's World AIDS Day was internationally themed "Walk the Path of Rights: My Health, My Right!".
