“The graduates are employees of the municipal administration and were trained in this course by recognized experts in sustainable mobility,” says Thul. “They can now use this knowledge in their work. Only with commitment and creativity will the mobility transition succeed where traffic actually takes place, namely in the municipalities and districts.”
In their new role, they act as a link between the specialist departments and authorities within the municipal administration. This enables a holistic view of mobility across the entire administration. They coordinate and communicate the ongoing planning of the individual departments and offices and ensure that all measures come together in one place.
The Ministry of Mobility supports municipalities within the framework of the mobility network in building structures for mobility management and has established its own course for “municipal mobility management” for this purpose.
In addition to the supplementary qualification in the field of mobility, participants can network with each other and exchange ideas and support one another afterwards. This is intended to further strengthen the statewide mobility network. The goal of the network is to empower and strengthen municipalities in developing and implementing sustainable and socially responsible mobility concepts.
The first graduates come from Homburg, Losheim am See, Neunkirchen, Nohfelden, Saarwellingen, Schmelz, St. Wendel, and Völklingen.
