On site, heavy smoke was observed coming from the apartment on the 2nd floor. The first arriving fire brigade personnel were able to evacuate residents from the 1st floor apartment safely and without injury. With the appropriate protective equipment, the fire brigade entered the burning apartment. Fortunately, no residents were found there, and the smoldering fire was quickly extinguished. It was later determined that the residents had not been home during the evening and night and were only informed of the fire incident afterwards.
During an initial fire site inspection, no conclusive cause of the fire could yet be determined. Investigations are still ongoing.
The residents of the first floor were able to return to their apartment after all the work was completed. The fire-damaged apartment was completely destroyed and uninhabitable. The residents stayed with family members. Fischbachstraße was completely closed for the duration of the operation.
