Minister of Health Dr. Magnus Jung: “Discrimination is a barrier that not only makes the lives of those affected by HIV more difficult but also hinders access to prevention and appropriate medical care. A change in thinking is necessary here – and it starts with each and every one of us.”
"In Saarbrücken, we will set a clearly visible sign against the discrimination of people with HIV and for acceptance," says Frank Kreutzer, Managing Director of Aidshilfe Saar. On the facade of the HDI high-rise near the Wilhelm-Heinrich Bridge in Saarbrücken, a large red ribbon will shine from November 29 to December 1, in the mornings from 6 – 9 a.m. and in the evenings from 4 – 10 p.m. "Many thanks to TSG Bauunternehmung GmbH for making this possible."
The red ribbon is the worldwide symbol of solidarity with people living with HIV.
This year’s World AIDS Day campaign focuses on dialogue. Under the motto “Living with HIV. Different from what you think?” strong individuals with HIV share their everyday experiences, their HIV-positive coming out, and how they deal with resistance. The campaign encourages people to examine their own knowledge, become aware of prejudices, and correct them. “People with HIV still need our support. Inform yourself, show solidarity, and wear a red fabric ribbon visibly on World AIDS Day,” Kreutzer continues.
