"The work of Ms. Rudolf is an indispensable contribution to a more just society. She has supported, promoted, and inspired countless women. Her commitment is not only pioneering but also shows how deep conviction and humanity can bring about change. Her dedication to equality, integration, and equal opportunities is a role model for us all. Her impact goes far beyond her professional activities – it is characterized by a deep inner conviction and humanity that is palpable in all her projects," emphasized Altesleben on the occasion of the award ceremony.
District Administrator Dr. Theophil Gallo expressed great pride: "Birgit Rudolf is the first women's representative at our district level, and I know that the establishment of this position was hotly debated in the district council over 35 years ago. However, Birgit Rudolf has gradually proven the doubters wrong. Today, thanks to her initiative, perseverance, and endurance in drilling metaphorical thick boards, there is an indispensable further education offer for women, including those with a migration background, extending beyond the Saarpfalz district. Her coordination office for Women & Work has even become a model initiative for other districts. I am very pleased for Birgit Rudolf on receiving this well-deserved award, the Federal Cross of Merit."
Since 1988, Birgit Rudolf has been leading the Women's Office of the Saarpfalz district and has initiated numerous pioneering projects in this role. Under her leadership, the Women's Office has become a central contact point for women in the region who need quick and unbureaucratic support.
At the same time, she founded the association "Women and Society" in 1989, which promotes meeting, exchange, and education for women from diverse backgrounds. With initiatives like the "Café Frauenzimmer," she created spaces for dialogue and mutual learning. Her work also laid the foundation for the Women's Culture Weeks and the event calendar "By Women for Women," a semi-annual program that equally focuses on further education, commitment, and health.
Birgit Rudolf appeared visibly moved during the ceremony and emphasized in conclusion: “I am very happy and grateful for the recognition that this award represents. I am particularly pleased that I was nominated for this by my colleagues nationwide. Of course, in my nearly 36 years of service as a women’s representative in the Saarpfalz district, I have tried many things, developed many ideas, initiated and implemented some. Such is to be expected over such a long period. My colleagues in the State Working Group of Municipal Women’s Representatives do the same day in and day out. All the more, it pleases and fills me with gratitude that my long-standing activity has been honored in this way through their nomination. Thank you for the good and intensive collaboration, which brings incredible joy. Thank you for the mutual support and constant backing, also from my spokeswoman colleagues in the State Working Group.”
The acoustic duo Jung & Krempel provided a charming musical accompaniment for the event.
