"Cancer is not a matter of age," said Mayor Carsten Quirin. "You can do many things, exercise, healthy nutrition, but there remains a great unknown." 4,000 men in Germany are diagnosed with testicular cancer each year – with good treatment success. "It is different with prostate cancer: Every year, 70,000 new cases occur in Germany, and around 14,000 men die from it." Statistically, one in nine men is diagnosed with prostate cancer in his lifetime.

„It is therefore immensely important that we raise awareness of the issue with the Movember campaign and that we also show: At the town hall, we have a corporate health management system that we are very happy to support from the city leadership.“ His appeal: „Prevention saves lives, give yourself a push, get examined!“

For more than ten years, the district town of Saarlouis has been operating an occupational health management system (BGM) together with the cooperation partner AOK Rheinland-Pfalz / Saarland in order to reduce workplace stress and support health-promoting measures. For the BGM steering committee, Sascha Schmidt explained that men use the in-house health and prevention services less frequently than women. Therefore, it is an important signal that the incentive for the Town Hall Movember did not only come from the ranks of the employees, but that the campaign was also actively supported by the entire administrative leadership.

At the closing event in front of the town hall, Mayor Carsten Quirin, sporting the mustache typical for Movember, emphasized the importance of preventive medical check-ups.
