The city council of the district town unanimously decided in its meeting on September 26 of this year to award Closter this honorary title. On the occasion of the appointment, Klär invited the long-standing head of Leitersweiler to the local village community center. During the ceremony, the head of administration emphasized the consistently constructive and trustful cooperation with the former village head.
The honored individual served as the local mayor of the Leitersweiler district from 1984 to 2004 and again from 2011 to 2024. Additionally, he was a member of the local council from 1984 to 2024. During this time, he was particularly committed to the local clubs and was the initiator of numerous projects. Among other things, he launched the "Virtual Multigenerational House" project, which offered intergenerational computer courses and tablet training. He also advocated for comprehensive broadband expansion in Leitersweiler. In addition to his local political work, Closter was involved in various volunteer roles. He served as chairman of the Association for the Promotion of Village Community, the Leitersweiler Sports Club, and the Hunting Cooperative. With great skill, he coordinated different interests and strengthened the local community. With much personal commitment, he helped people who fled to Leitersweiler due to war.
