The collected amount was handed over this year to the Saarland Cancer Society to support their important projects. Numerous representatives participated in the ceremonial handover, including Dr. Vanessa Wassong, Operations Manager of the NBS, Julia Kirchen, Katja Kuhn and Simone Herberz, teachers at KBBZ Saarlouis, as well as members of the student council, George Gabriel, Azad Tarko and Noah Urban. From the Saarland Cancer Society, Julia Stief, responsible for fundraising and projects, and Anna Hempel, federal volunteer service member, were present on site.
The campaign, initiated in 2021 by the teachers and students of KBBZ Saarlouis, has now reached an impressive scale. “We are very proud of the commitment shown by the students and teachers of KBBZ. What started as a small idea is today a large campaign that has an impact far beyond the city limits,” said Dr. Vanessa Wassong, who has been supporting the campaign with the NBS since 2021. The teachers at KBBZ also emphasize the importance of the campaign in conveying values such as sustainability and social engagement to the students. Katja Kuhn, a teacher at KBBZ, explains: “With minimal effort, everyone can make their own contribution. Students are shown how sustainability can be easily incorporated into everyday life.”
Julia Stief from the Saarland Cancer Society was also enthusiastic: “It is wonderful to see how sustainability and public benefit are combined here. Every euro collected through this campaign goes directly to us. With it, we can support many people and do good together.” The project “Rainbow for Children of Parents with Cancer” of the Saarland Cancer Society is particularly grateful for the support. The goal is to help the affected families, especially the children of the ill parents, during this difficult time and to create shared experiences.
The collaboration between the KBBZ Saarlouis, the NBS, and the Saarland Cancer Society was emphasized by all involved. "It is wonderful to see how committed everyone is to making this campaign so successful. We are especially grateful for the NBS team, who are always fully dedicated," said Julia Kirchen, a teacher at KBBZ.
