For several years, the community youth services have been offering the "ART workshop" for children and young people in cooperation with the Saarwelling artist Mario Andruet as part of the summer experience program. The aim of this workshop is to promote young talents in the artistic field. This year, the Schwarzenholz artist Cathleen Kelkel additionally supported the young participants in realizing their creative ideas.
A total of 14 children and adolescents aged 9 to 13 participated in the "ARTworkshop," which took place during the summer holidays on August 20 and 23, 2024, in Mario Andruet's studio. Impressive paintings and sculptures on the theme of sustainability were created from recycled materials on these days. With much imagination and commitment, supported by the artists, the works were created and are now exhibited in the town hall.
Mayor Dr. Horst Brünnet, who attended the vernissage, was also enthusiastic about the creative results and the fitting theme: "The motto SUSTAINABILITY could not be more timely. Unfortunately, we humans tend to view and exploit our natural resources as if they were infinite, which is why working with sustainable materials, here recycling materials, is an important and at the same time interesting form of art." He thanked the young participants for their wonderful artworks, as well as the two artists and the community youth services for their commitment and support offerings for children in the artistic field.
The exhibition can be seen in the foyer of the Saarwellingen Town Hall until December 12, 2024, and can be visited during the Town Hall's opening hours.
