During his 25 years in office, Schneider mediated numerous disputes and significantly contributed to easing the Saarland judiciary with his dedication. His active time as a mediator ended already in April. Now he has been awarded the Silver Badge of Honor for his exemplary work.
“With his tireless commitment and unparalleled ability to resolve conflicts, Manfred Schneider has made not only justice but also fairness tangible for many citizens over the years. As a mediator, he has proven that dialogue and understanding are often the best ways to settle disputes. On behalf of my office, I thank Mr. Schneider for his exceptional dedication to the common good. His work will remain a role model – and today we bid him farewell with the utmost respect and gratitude,” stated State Secretary Dr. Diener.
Through his work, Schneider has shaped the arbitration system in Homburg and beyond, earning the trust of the citizens as an important contact person.
Background:
Arbitrators (Schiedsfrauen and Schiedsmänner) are elected by local and municipal councils and carry out their duties on an honorary basis. The arbitration procedure is applicable in both criminal and civil disputes. For certain criminal offenses, where the complainant is referred to the so-called private prosecution route, filing a lawsuit is only permissible after an attempt at reconciliation by the arbitrators has failed. In civil disputes, especially neighbor law conflicts are handled by arbitrators before a court can be involved. Around 203 arbitrators are active in Saarland.
